What is a Mental Wealth Consultation?

The challenges of life can be overwhelming for us and at times guidance for moving forward to the next phase in life is needed. This is where Mental Wealth Consultation can help in that process. Consultation is creating a partnership that fosters collaboration between the client and the mental health professionalit’s taking action-oriented steps that help the client establish and maintain constant progression and examining all possibilities with an optimistic approach to solving problems.

Who Is the Mental Wealth Consultation For?

This consultation is for anyone who is currently at a stage of life where they are tired of repeating the same vicious cycle of behavior and not getting the results they desire. It’s for the parent challenged with communicating more effectively with their child. This consultation is for the person who is living with a mental illness and has sought care through other sources but have not seen any results. This is for the person who is lacking self-esteem and self-confidence. This is for those individuals who are seeking self-improvement. This is also for the man or woman looking to transition into another career that fits their personality preferences.

What is The Process Like?

There are 6 phases of the program which identifies and develops personality style, emotional intelligence, self-awareness, managing life’s stressors, effective interpersonal skills, and addictive behavior identification. These phases may not necessarily go in any order except that which is needed to fit the clients’ needs.

1. Overview of DISC Assessment
  • Decisive — your preference for problem solving and getting results
  • Interactive — your preference for interacting with others and showing emotion
  • Stability — your preference for pacing, persistence and steadiness
  • Cautious — your preference for procedures, standards and protocols
2. Problem Identification / Addictive Behavior Identification

Determining how we can know when we should accept our feelings, when we should express our feelings, and when we should change our feelings. We will talk about the 5 D’s of addictive behavior identification.

3. Emotional Intelligence

Learning why we have emotions, when to use our emotions, and learning when emotions are healthy or unhealthy.

4. Self-Awareness

We will learn the distorted thinking patterns that can sometimes lead to mental health problems and learning skills to use for positive thoughts. Also learning to be your true authentic self without the feelings of shame, guilt or nonacceptance.

5. Managing Life's Stressors

We will look at how to destress your life with practical skills that engage our five senses.

6. Interpersonal Effectiveness

We will learn to communicate effectively and say no when needed while advocating for ourselves.

About Royce

Royce is a man who has a passion for people. Growing up as a middle child in low-income circumstances with adverse childhood experiences, challenges of life were the norm. Then, getting married his senior year of high school and barely graduating Royce was someone who lacked confidence in his identity. After joining the U.S. Navy in 1997 he learned that life had more to offer than what he experienced. While having the opportunity to travel the world as a U.S. Sailor his home life was in shambles. After 9 years of emotional and physical abuse his marriage ended having two daughters as his only motivation. This was where his internal battle really began. Wanting to be a present father in his daughters’ lives was something that he would battle for over 15 years after his divorce.

He later learned that his mental state was not as healthy as it seemed. Having multiple failed relationships and another failed marriage he then was discharged honorably from the military only to transition into a world of the unknown. Having a heart for people he began serving the less fortunate meals every Friday on the downtown streets of San Diego, CA. This is where he was offered an opportunity to manage and co-own a small café in Oceanside, Ca attached to Dan’s Auto shop.  Again, having a passion to serve others this business venture had lessons to be learned and after heavy thought he sought out other employment opportunities where he started working for the Hertz rental car company.

It was not long after that he transferred his position to a suburb of Chicago, IL so that he could be closer to his daughters and began to build a relationship. It was there he completed his bachelor’s degree in Business Management and continued to pursue an MBA from the same university. After relocating, his relationship with his daughters and self-efficacy for himself did not change. He knew he had a heart for people but did not know how to use it. After losing his job with Hertz he then moved back to Michigan to be closer to his family and establish a relationship his daughters. His desire to be a father and to make a positive impact on society lead to another degree program but one in the social service field (Masters of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling).

After having worked for multiple companies to include the Department of Veteran Affairs he learned that Mental Health is where he felt most comfortable and needed. His path towards self-discovery, healing and fulfillment had started to come to light. Mental Health has always been something most to include himself that went unaddressed. He realized that “You Repeat What You Don’t Repair!” Royce realized that he had not addressed his own deep-rooted issues which therefore left him repeating some of the same mistakes. Now having clarity of his personality and the reasons why he was not progressing forward in all areas of his life his path has been renewed. He now has an amazing relationship with himself and his oldest daughter and knows that it is a matter of time until he is able to have the same with his youngest.

He has now dedicated his life to educating individuals, families, church’s, communities and those within his influence on mental health as it pertains to trauma, addiction, behavior disorders, personality discrepancies and removing the stigma associated with mental illness. He realized that “Mental Health Is Our Wealth,” and if we fail to address those issues that keep resurfacing in our lives, our mindset and perspectives then we will continue the same vicious cycles of our lives.

Testimonials

“We have always strived for a marriage where authentic communication is a part of our everyday life. Before taking the Passport Assessment, we desperately wanted to know and understand one another on a deeper level. We wanted to explore what triggered us, moved us, and what did or did not motivate us. We wanted to know who we truly were being in our marriage, and how we could cultivate a home filled with grace, compassion, and acceptance. Our experience with Royce led us exactly where we hoped to be. The assessment left us feeling pleasantly exposed. As   Royce led us through the results, we found ourselves laughing as we uncovered gems that added depth to our understanding of ourselves and one another. Since taking the assessment, we feel like we have a cheat code for our relationship. We have thoroughly enjoyed discovering ways to use this new tool in our marriage, parenting, and personal lives.”

“I just want to thank Royce for introducing me to this life changing assessment. He made the information practical for me and helped me understand who I am and how my behavior and habits can cause me to be stuck in life. This assessment was able to help me in my marriage, my finances and my career. Words cant express what you have done for me. Thank you Royce.”
